Green bean plants aint producing nothing?

Did you fix the soil with nitrogen before planting, or does it need that? Did you take the rototiller and work it round the roots, careful not to hit them!, so as to shock the plants out of vegetative phase to a fruiting one? That's from Organic Gardening.
