How to tell a guy you like him.?

ive never told a guy i liked them before unless they asked me out, but i like this guy and everyone says he likes me and that hes dropping hints, we hang out togethe, he asked for my number, and he keeps asking who i like but i dont wanna tell him that i like him cause what happens if it ruins our friendship? alotta people are saying he likes me but idk if he does he never said it hes just dropping hints, and hed walk me to my classes and or bus we talk everyday so idk should i tell him? im not sure,.,please answer thankyou
